- English translation (Windeatt: 1998) (Windeatt: 1998): What shall I do? For certainly, I don’t see how or when, alas, the time will come when I can be with you like this again. And God knows what my life may be like, since I’m in the grip of such desire right now that I’ll die at once unless I can come back. How should I stay away from you for long, alas?
- Chinese translation (Fang: 1956) (Fang: 1956):

Comments from the Editor
The day breaks after the two protagonists’ consummation and Troilus has to leave. In the quotation in which Troilus laments, it is evident that he wants Criseyde to promise they will meet like this again. In her next speech, Criseyde emphasizes their inseparable relationship and promises Troilus that if it pleases him, they will meet like this again.
