Similar to the scene of Troilus’ triumphant return, this scene in which Criseyde witnesses Troilus on his horse is also added by Chaucer. After the scene of the triumphant return, Criseyde utters, “Who yaf me drynke?” (2.651). Subsequently, Criseyde is again described as having a thorn in her heart (2.1272). Both scenes reveal that Troilus’ appearance as a knight has aroused Criseyde’s sexual desires.
