Although Diomede’s visit to Criseida is set on the fourth day after her departure from Troy in Fil, Chaucer put it on the 10th day, that is, the day the heroine promises to be back. On this day, Troilus goes to the town walls with Pandarus and waits for Criseyde. However, she will not return until night. In contrast to this sad Troilus, Diomede is described as being as fresh as a branch in May.
