To ease Troilus’s pain, Criseyde asks Pandarus to take him a blue ring. As the OED explains, blue is the colour of constancy (s.v. blue, adj. and n. 6), but in the following context, Pandarus despises her suggestion and claims that Troilus’s pain cannot be relieved unless she meets him that night.
