When persuading Troilus, Criseyde promised that she would be back before Lucina left Aries to pass Leo (4.1591–3). However, the stanza above tells us that although Cynthia (= Lucina) is urging her chariot’s horses to whirl from Leo, Criseyde is still in the Greek camp. Calkas’s fair, bright tent now forms an ironic contrast to Criseyde’s lightless palace in Troy.
