Pandarus threatens Criseyde that if she refuses to show Troilus mercy, she will kill both he and Troilus. To heighten the realism of this speech, Pandarus has already shown Criseyde the knife he is to cut his throat with (2.325). In this way, we find that Pandarus takes advantage of Criseyde and forces her to love Troilus on many occasions throughout the story.
