  • English translation (Windeatt: 1998) (Windeatt: 1998): Now, my niece, the king’s dear son—that good, wise, excellent, lively, generous man, who always behaves well—the noble Troilus—loves you so much that, unless you help, it’ll be the death of him. Well, there it is! What more should I say? Do what you like—whether he lives or dies, it’s up to you.
  • Chinese translation (Fang: 1956) (Fang: 1956):

Comments from the Editor

Pandarus confesses that Troilus loves Criseyde. This stanza follows Fil.2.46, but Pandaro does not mention that Troiolo will die (as Pandarus does in the above quotation) if without Criseyde’s mercy. Refer also to my comment of ‘dere’ (adj., Tr1.461) and ‘dere’ (adj., Tr1.535).
