This quote follows Fil.5.13, but Boccaccio modifies the description of Diomede being secretly infatuated with Criseida. Instead, Chaucer portrays Diomede as forcefully seizing the reins of the heroine. The change in Chaucer’s depiction adds a more overt and aggressive element to Diomede’s actions towards Criseyde.
